JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the Division Manager, the Engineer provides electrical engineering services to IAS customers, including engineering studies, electrical and control system designs, PLC and HMI programming, and project management. Additionally, the role provides troubleshooting assistance at customers' facilities and provides technical support to company's Industrial Electric Services division.

The Engineer works with customers, Industrial Electric Services personnel, and company staff to successfully complete projects. The role serves as a good ambassador for the company and helps generate sales and repeat business.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engineers and oversees installation of electrical and control systems, by applying engineering knowledge and appropriate systems, to the customers' satisfaction and according to industry codes/requirements.
  • Develops cost estimates, scope of work, general designs, and reviews with client.
  • Performs electrical studies using modeling software, creates reports, and makes recommendations for improvements to customers.
  • Develops control systems, including PLC control devices, PLC programming, HMI's, wireless devices, industrial networks, and field devices and instruments.
  • Performs advanced trouble shooting on motors, relays and logic, low voltage power systems, complex machines, PLC controls, instrument loops, and communication systems as needed.
  • Manages project budget, schedule, and quality in order to provide positive financial results for IAS and an appropriate solution that satisfies the customer.
  • Promotes company IAS services by identifying and persuading potential customers to use our services and by providing existing customers with exceptional service and forecasting and identifying their potential needs.
  • Ensures all work at job site is performed in a safe manner. Follows all safety procedures and encourages others to work safely. Attends required safety training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from accredited 4-year engineering program.

Experience - 5+ years related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities -
  • Organization, project management, and leadership skills
  • NEC practical knowledge
  • Understand: electrical one-line, controls schematic, and instrumentation P&ID drawings
  • PLC and HMI programming experience (Allen Bradley required , any others preferred)
  • Power systems knowledge
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems knowledge
  • Understand industrial controls & networking
  • AC motors, DC motors, Variable Speed Drives
  • Electrical and automation standards knowledge
  • Basic estimation techniques
  • Electrical safety and arc flash procedures
  • Electrical modeling software experience


Licenses/Certifications - valid driver's license is required

Training - 10 hour OSHA, CPR and First Aid training

Technology/Equipment - Ability to operate a variety of office equipment to include but not limited to computers, printers, scanners and calculators. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
